At about 10:00 this morning, the Arcata Police Department received a report a deceased male on the Mad River Bar. Further investigation revealed that the decedent was found in the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office’s jurisdiction and Sheriff’s detectives were called to the location. Detectives arrived at the scene near Boyd Road on the south side of Mad River and learned the victim, an adult male, lived on the river bar. An acquaintance of the decedent had discovered dead man and called law enforcement.

The Sheriff’s Office is calling this case suspicious. Detectives and Sheriff’s Evidence Technicians are processing the scene, including securing a search warrant of the victim’s tent.
