Ventura on KSLG

Humboldt H

Speaking of conspiracy theories — like the one about 9/11 as recently discussed in comments on this blog — former Minnesota Governor Jesse “The Body” Ventura will be live with John Matthews tomorrow morning on KSLG to discuss his new book American Conspiracies: Lies, Lies, and More Dirty Lies that the Government Tells Us.  Tune in at 7:30am.

Ventura was recently censored by the Huffington Post for an article he wrote on 9/11, but the piece was republished here (excerpt below).

You didn’t see anything about it in the mainstream media, but at a recent conference in San Francisco, more than 1,000 architects and engineers signed a petition demanding that Congress begin a new investigation into the destruction of the three World Trade Center skyscrapers on 9-11.

That’s right, these people put their reputations in potential jeopardy — because they don’t buy the government’s version of events. They want to know how 200,000 tons of steel disintegrated and fell to the ground in 11 seconds. They question whether the hijacked planes were responsible or whether it could have been a controlled demolition from inside that brought down the twin towers and WTC Building 7.

Walk your world: The creek beckons

Walk your world: The creek beckons [Daily Triplicate]
Waterside path doesn’t scrimp on redwoods, but it’s short one bridge

Are you going to let a little thing like a ravine stop you?

Until state parks workers replace a bridge that was removed a couple
of years ago on South Mill Creek Trail, that’s the pivotal question
facing hikers of this route.

A bright red trailhead sign gives the state parks’ take on the matter: “Not a through trail,” “no crossing available.”

Prudent information, as it turned out. Laura and I did work our way
across the currently unbridged tributary, but it was a bit of a
scramble with the potential to get wet, so it’s not for everyone.

Hislop At The Garberville Rotary [Fred's Humboldt Blog]

Not sure just how revealing this speech Mike Hislop recently gave at the Fortuna Rotary is. It doesn’t seem he’s that good of a public speaker so it’s hard to understand some of what he’s saying. I can’t pick on him for that since I’m a horrific public speaker myself, but some of the stuff he says just seems odd to me.

Message from the Marijuana Growers Assoc. of America

Humboldt H

From the Humboldt Herald inbox.  Apparently it came from Florida.

There will be a change of the landscape in the “war on drugs”. The fight will no longer be with state and federal law makers. It will be with importers and growers of foreign product and domestic mass producing corporate farms. We need to protect the “home grown” crop from foreign invaders and corporate raiders. The only way to do this is by organizing. We would be idiots to think that tobacco and alcohol aren’t sitting on the sidelines waiting to stake their claim in the billion dollar marijuana industry. These people have a ready built distribution network and millions of dollars in advertising funds. There is nothing that can be done to stop them. A page should be taken from the beer and wine industry and offer boutique products like the small craft brewery’s and vineyard’s. For the small time farmers breaking into the market by themselves will be nearly impossible. That is why we created the MGAA. The association web site will be a place to show case your products to buyers and distributors on a national level. We look forward to your comments and thoughts.
