Some 21,000 marijuana plants were seized from outdoor pot grows throughout Humboldt County this week, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Redwood National Park said law enforcement agents removed nearly 9,600 plants from a large marijuana grow on Bald Hills Road on Wednesday. The pot grow was the first major marijuana operation in the park that officials knew of.

Nearly 10,000 marijuana plants worth about $35 million were seized this week in the first major outdoor grow operation found on Redwood National and State Parks lands, an official confirmed Thursday.
A multi-agency team busted a huge pot grow in Redwood National Park Wednesday and detained five people they suspect may have been involved. The grow was the largest, and perhaps the only big marijuana grow, found on the national park to date.
Faulty electrical equipment is believed to have caused a McKinleyville house fire that caused an estimated $75,000 in damages and gutted the residence, which was reportedly partly converted for marijuana cultivation.
