Downey Wins Sheriff’s Endorsements In Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino Counties

Mike Downey for Humboldt County SheriffThe Campaign to Elect Mike Downey Humboldt County Sheriff announced today endorsements from the Sheriff’s of Humboldt, Mendocino and Del Norte Counties.

Humboldt County Sheriff, Gary Philp stated that Mike Downey has faithfully and unselfishly served the citizens of Humboldt County for the past 24 years as a Deputy Sheriff. From Philp’s personal experience, he knows thatDowney is the only candidate who has the necessary experience needed to lead this outstanding law enforcement agency forward during difficult times. Additionally, Philp believes that Downey is firmly committed to the continuing focus of providing the most effective and efficient law enforcement services possible to the citizens of Humboldt County and making our communities safer.

In giving his endorsement, Tom Allman, Mendocino County Sheriff – Coroner said that he has known Mike Downey for over 20 years and respects his leadership qualities. Allman noted that the next several years will present unique challenges to all rural Sheriff’s and that he believes Downey has the determination and stamina to maintain the high level of professionalism that Sheriff Philp has delivered. Consistent leadership is what he has seen from Downey and consistent leadership is what he believes Downey will deliver.

Additionally, Dean Wilson, Del Norte County Sheriff-Coroner endorses Mike Downey for Humboldt County Sheriff. Wilson stated that as the Sheriff of Del Norte County, he knows what qualities it takes to be Sheriff. For the past three years, Mike Downey has served as Humboldt County’s Undersheriff which provides him an unparallel understanding of the Sheriff’s Office. It has also afforded Downey the time it takes to hone the skills necessary to lead them Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. Wilson stated in his capacity as Sheriff of Del Norte County he has had the pleasure of knowing Mike Downey and working with him. He has the confidence to say the people of Humboldt County could do no better than to vote for Mike Downey for Sheriff.
