The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors accepted $170,000 from the federal government for marijuana-related law enforcement work Tuesday morning, despite one individual’s advice.
Law enforcement is looking for a suspect in yet another brazen daytime armed robbery on Monday, although this most recent incident has not been linked to seven others since March 25.

Following the resignation of Trinidad Police Chief Ken Thrailkill earlier this week, the city is looking into establishing formal interim services with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office until the city council can find a replacement.
Local law enforcement agencies continue to search for a Eureka man suspected of committing a string of seven armed robberies, the latest of which occurred Monday night when he allegedly held up a grocery store at gunpoint.

Consistent leadership is what he has seen from Downey and consistent leadership is what he believes Downey will deliver.
Additionally, Dean Wilson, Del Norte County Sheriff-Coroner endorses Mike Downey for Humboldt County Sheriff. Wilson stated that as the Sheriff of Del Norte County, he knows what qualities it takes to be Sheriff. For the past three years, Mike Downey has served as Humboldt County’s Undersheriff which provides him an unparallel understanding of the Sheriff’s Office. It has also afforded Downey the time it takes to hone the skills necessary to lead them Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. Wilson stated in his capacity as Sheriff of Del Norte County he has had the pleasure of knowing Mike Downey and working with him. He has the confidence to say the people of Humboldt County could do no better than to vote for Mike Downey for Sheriff.
