Hogpen Slough used to trickle under Eel River Drive through a piece of corrugated pipe. Most of the family dairies have become leaseholds and are ranched by tenants. The ditches that used to keep this clear have filled in. Water has backed up to form a beautiful lake and in the process has plugged up the culvert. It’s time for bigger pipe – lots bigger.
