Through the end of November, the Eureka Fire Department will begin testing and flushing hydrants. Hydrant testing is done on an annual basis to check for proper operation of all fire hydrants, check water flow, and to flush inorganic material out of water lines.
On Wednesday, the Eureka Fire Department began a hydrant-testing process that is expected to last until the end of November. According to information from the EFD, the hydrants are being flushed to check water flow and clean the water lines.
Eureka’s Finance Advisory Committee will meet in special session at 3 p.m. today at the Eureka Fire Department, 533 C St. The committee will be taking a tour of the Fire Department headquarters.
