Thomas B. Floyd cashed in his chips on March 23, 2010 at the age of 86 years old with his wife Winnie and family by his side. Born April 19, 1923, in Cove, Arkansas, he grew up in Arkansas and at the age of 18 years old he joined the Army. Thomas served in World War II in the Pacific and the Korean outbreak.
Thomas was a past member of the Brookings Elk Lodge, Smith River American Legion Post #712 and a volunteer with the Smith River Volunteer Fire Department.
The Little Lake Fire Protection District Board of Directors recently approved new assignments and duties for the two full-time veteran firefighters, John Thomen and Carl Magann.
Thomen, a 26-year veteran with the department, will assume the duties of deputy chief.
