The Willits City Council has approved a resolution applying for a $5 million state grant to install a new covered pool complex at the site of the existing pool.
Councilman Larry Stranske, Councilman Greg Kanne and Councilwoman Holly Madrigal voted for the resolution.

With the now regular reminders that a major catastrophe could be upon us at any second, it’s apparent that local friends and neighbors are more likely to answer a call for help than the federal powers that be.
The American Red Cross tipped its hat to a group of quick thinking individuals who stepped up when duty — and circumstance — called.
Among the honored was Eureka City Councilman Larry Glass, for his heroic efforts that saved a woman from the frigid waters of Humboldt Bay in December 2008.

A joint meeting between the Crescent City Council and Del Norte County Board of Supervisors on Monday produced a lot of dialogue but little results.
The two groups met to discuss possible areas of coordination and received updates on aspects of governing, such as building inspection, where they already work together.

The city council approved lease agreements with the Kids Club and the Willits Unified School District at its February 10 meeting. The agreements had to be signed to allow the city to receive the last payments from the state-funded grant used to construct the building.
