A lawsuit stemming from the 2007 Arcata homeless raids was recently filed against the county, several cities and law enforcement agencies, including the Arcata Police Department, for alleged civil rights violations.

People Project suing Arcata, other entities in response to protest arrests

Five people who were arrested during a homeless encampment protest last year are suing several government entities in Humboldt County, alleging a violation of their civil rights, the People Project announced Tuesday in a press release.

Request for extradition received by governor’s staff

A warrant that could send an Arcata man to Oregon to answer charges of abusing a corpse was passed to the California Governor’s Office for review Tuesday.

I began my career in radio and electronics. I started out repairing radios, mostly early AM radios, shortwave and ham transcievers. I obtained my amateur radio license (KB6VWL) in 1988, and have since talked to thousands of people all over the world.

In the early 90′s I turned my interest to computers and data communications. I ran a local computer bulletin board in the days before the Internet was in wide use and was a moderator on General Electric’s online service GEnie. I began building and repairing computers around that time and got into designing and building interactive voicemail (IVR) systems, which bridged an information service gap for those who didn’t own computers at the time.

Posse member assaulted in Redwood Park

On Saturday at about 3:49 p.m., officers from the Arcata Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in Redwood Park. The assault occurred during the 12 Hours of Humboldt mountain bike race.
