A small quake rumbled in The Geysers early Tuesday, registering a 2.7 magnitude. The quake was recorded at 4:30 a.m. and was centered two miles southeast of The Geysers and about four miles southwest of the community of Cobb. The quake had a depth of 2.3 miles, according to the United States Geological Survey, which tracks quakes worldwide.

Three Southern California men were in custody Monday, suspected of trying to kill a Covelo man during a marijuana robbery. The victim remained hospitalized Monday in an out-of-county hospital in critical condition, suffering from gunshot wounds.

A Covelo man was shot repeatedly during an apparent marijuana robbery at his home Sunday, Mendocino County sheriff’s officials reported. Two men were being questioned Sunday and a third man remained at large, reported Capt. Kurt Smallcomb.

Robert James Feenan, 50, of Santa Rosa is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and violation of probation for his last DUI conviction in 2008. He has 11 drunken-driving convictions in Sonoma County dating back to 1990 and one in Humboldt County from 1983.

A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck near The Geysers, a region prone to minor seismic activity. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake hit about 3:59 a.m., with an epicenter about two miles northeast of The Geysers and 26 miles north of Santa Rosa. It was centered about 0.1 miles deep, according to the report.

The CHP was investigating a possible head-on crash on Highway 101 near Hopland early Monday involving two vehicles, one possibly a Brinks armored car. The crash was reported at 6:35 a.m., just north of Hopland.

A 22-year-old woman fell to her death from atop the Mendocino Headlands early Saturday, apparently after slipping into a crevice and dropping up to 75 feet to the beach below. The victim is believed to have been from out of town, and perhaps out of state, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Van Hagen said.
