Duo Busted With 17 lbs of Marijuana

humboldt-county-sheriffs-officeEarly this morning Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two men after finding them transporting 17 pounds of processed marijuana. At about 1:00 a.m., a Sheriff’s Sergeant conducted a vehicle stop on Myrtle Avenue. A records check revealed the driver, Robert Lightner, 27 of Arcata, was on probation with a search and seizure clause. Additionally, Lightner had five outstanding bench warrants. The Sergeant arrested Lightner while a second deputy arrived to assist.

Drive-By Shooting Reported In Orleans, Shooter At Large

At about 10:15 p.m. deputies responded to a residence on Red Cap Road and found the victim, Nolan Eugene Colegrove, 27 of Hoopa, lying in front of the house. Deputies learned that Colegrove had been shot at another location and then came to the residence seeking help. Medical personnel also responded to the scene and transported him to an area hospital. He is in stable condition.

David Burns Morgan, 48 of Eureka, had fallen overboard at about 10:45 p.m. (Tuesday) while fishing offshore in the Pacific Ocean. Johnson reportedly threw a life preserver to Morgan but then saw Morgan slip under water. They later returned to Humboldt Bay to report a missing person.
