Many Big Banks Stop Taking State IOU’s
After Friday, many major commercial banks will no longer honor state issued IOUs, sticking to a deadline set last week. Wells Fargo, Bank of America and Chase, among others, stated they would cash the interest-bearing IOUs, formally called registered warrants, only until July 10 to give the state more time to resolve its budget crisis.
